The Magic Lamp

The Magic Lamp

Once upon a time, there was a widow. She nad only one son whose name was Aladdin. They were very poor.
Aladdin tried to earn some money by collecting wild figs and picking bananas. One day, Aladdin met a well dressed stranger who asked him a question. "Do you like to earn a silver coin ?" "A silver coin",
"So, just go down that manhole,", said the man. "I'm too fat to get through that hole. It you do as I ask you to do, you shall have your reward."
Sice Aladdin was slim, he went down the manhole easily. Soon he found himself in a large cave. The fickering light of an old lamp shine on a wonderful sight'; pots of gold, jewels and gems were glittering. It was a real tresaure! Aladdin was surprised to see all this. His eyes were unable to believe it He was standing dazed when he heard a shout behind hi,.
"Put out the lamp and bring it to me."
That's very strange", thought Aladdin. "why should he want only an old lamp and not all this gold ?|
"Hand over the lamp!" shouted the man again. "I'll leave you down there forver if yu don't obey!" Let me come out first......", said Aladdin.
"O.K. you won't listen to me. So stay there forever", said the stranger angrily, slamming down the manhole cover. But , as he did so, a ring slid off his finger. Aladdin saw it and picked it up. Suddenly, the cave was totally dark Aladdin was terrified.
As he was terrified, he twisted the ring round and round in his finger. Suddenly, the roo, was flooded with a flash of light and a great genie appeared.
"Yes, my Master ! I am at you command", said the genie.
Aladdin was so surprised that he could only stammer. "I want to go home !" And what a surprise ! He was beck in his own house. been, Aladdin ?" asked his mother.
Aladdin told her all about his exciting adventure and also showed her the old lamp.
"well, I hope it works. It's so old and diry", and saying so, she began to rub the lamp.
In a flash of time, another genie appeared. "Yes, my Master ! I am at your service. Tell me your wishes and they will be fulfilled,"said the genie bowing respectfully.
The boy and his mother stared at him without utterring a word.
"I am your obedient servant. Tell me what do you wat", repeated the genie.
Aladdin said softly, "Bring us a lovely meal. "And from that day, their poor days were over. Aladdin and his mother had everything, one could wish for;  food, clothes and a fine house, The genie granted them everything they asked for. The time passed hapoily. Aladdin grew into a tall, handsome, young man and his mother felt that it was ttime to get him a wife.
One day, Aladdin saw the Sultan's daughter Halime She was so beautiful that he fell in love with her.
"I'll go and ask the Sultan for his daughter's hand", said his mother when he told his mother about her.
She arrived at the palace with pots full of diamonds for the Sultan.
But the Sultan said, "If Aladdin wants to marry Halima, he must send me fifty slaves each carrying a box of precius stones. Also he must build a splendid palace for her. She is not used to live in a small house."
When Aladdin heard the demand, he told the genie of the lamp about it. The genie clapped his hands. And in an instance, fifty slaves, fifty boxes of jewels and a beautiful palace appeared.
The wedding took place with lots of celebrations. Aladdin became very famous. Everyone heard of his wealth and fortune. The stranger also heard about it.
Disguised as a merchant, he came to Aladdin's house. He called to the princess, "Take new lamps in exchange of old."
Aladdin had never told Halime the secret of the lamp. And so, unknowingly, the princess fetched the old lamp and gave it to the merchant in exchange of a vew one. She actually wanted to surprise Aladdin.
The merchant quickly began to rub the lamp .......... and the genie was now at the service of the wicked man who had the magic lamp with him.
In no time, he whisked away all of Aladdin's possessions and sent the palace and the princess to an unknown land.
Nobody knew what had happened. Aladdin and the Sultan were very worried and were at their wits end.
Then , Aladdin remembered the genie of the ring. So, he rubbed the ring and immediately the genie appeared before him.
"Take me to the place where the wicked man has hidden my wife", he ordered the genie.
In a second, he found himself inside his oen palace. Halima was surprised to see Aladdin. He told her everything and hid himself in a room. When the wicked man returned and asked for tea, she added a powder quietly into the wicked man's tea. And as soon as, he sipped the tea, he fell into a deep sleep. Aladdin found the lamp and rubbed it quickly!
"Yes, Master! I am at your command. What can I do for you ?" asked the genie with a smile.
"Put this wicked man in chains and send him far away where he'll never be found again", ordered Aladdin. The genie did as he was ordered to do.
And so, the wicked man vanished. Now Aladdin said "Take my wife and me and the palace back to its own place."
"As you order, sir" replied the genie. And so in a flash, the palace rose into the air and sped over the Sultan's kingdom. It gently came down to earth and landed on ots old site. And thereafter, Aladdin and Halima lived happily.

Quality of human

QUALITY QULITY           I  knew him from the days of my extreme me youth, because he made my father’s boots. He lived with his elder brother in his shop, which was in a small by-street in a fashionable part of London. The shop had a certain quiet distinction. There was no sign upon it other than the name of Gassler Brothers; and in the window a few pairs of boots. He made only what was ordered, and what he made never failed to fit. To make boots----such boots as he made ---seemed to me then, and still seems to me, mysterious and wonderful. I remember well my shy remarks, one day, while stretching out to him my youthful foot. “Isn’t it awfully hard to do, Mr. Gassler?’’ And his answer, given with a sudden smile from out of the redness of his beard: “Id is an art!”   It was not possible to go to him very often his boots lasted terribly, having something beyond the ...
